Banks requiring business details?

After ignoring emails at first from Barclays regarding business details eventually had to sort it.
Had to confirm business details regarding partnership etc and confirm my identity as they didn't have my middle name even though correspondence over the years has had it on it.
Time wasting exercise.
Similiar bollox from Barclays.

I returned their form after having to call them. WTF they cannot just send it, is beyond me. I filled it in, in a "creative" fashion, and sent it back. Then had another alert to call them.... again. Did so and had a pleasant lady answer, who was rather apologetic at the silliness...

Then she was unable to deal with what I was having to call about! The dept dealing with this nonsense was not available but when I said I would not be bothering with them again, she looked into what the "problem" was, and it turned out that my late Uncle, who died in 2004, was still shown as a cheque signee.... They had not updated their records, as the Bank was very involved after his death.

There was also a query at what our profit would be next year.... I responded it would depend on the weather, but about teh same as last year.... look at my accounts submitted to my Manager or whatever he calls himself now...

I was waiting for them to ask me to take stuff to a local Branch, as then I might have lost my temper.... WHAT Branch.....

Still waiting, one month later, for the letter from said Department to authorise them to take my Uncle's details off their system....again!

When I go online and look at my personal details, my bank has my occupation as ‘student’ (which I was when I became a business partner). When I try to change that to ‘self-employed’, it asks supplementary questions wanting to know the business name (same as the account is registered to!) and the date the business was formed (they obviously already know this). For the date the business was formed, they only give the option to go back to when I was about 16 years old (presumably when you are old enough to form a business) except that our business was formed decades before I was born and partners have come and gone.

Im not going to lie, so can’t change it! I’ve asked when I’ve been on the phone to them and they can’t change it either.

So my bank will forever think I’m a student🤨

I've now filled the form in 3 times
Account is being closed on 16, 23 Feb or 12 April depending which email I read
The problem, I'm now a sole trader on a partnership account, even though they deleted the partner 5 years ago
To open a new account and transfer I need meeting with a business manager........earliest appointment is May

Different circumstances than yours, but I had a friend who was having issues with the Bank and simply wrote a couple of cheques and emptied the account, and then advised the "manager", he could close the account... As I recall, he had some chunky borrowings, which focused the minds at Head Office...

Feckwits.... MIndless nonsense really.

As we do not have a formal partnership, they will have to whistle.
I meant to say in my most recent post... this was one of areas that was queried...

"Can you send a copy of the Partnership Agreement?"

"No"

"Why not Sir, it is a requirement"

"We don't have a formal Agreement"

"ahhhh.... I see.... I will add that to the response....!"

What does surprise me though, is that we have a separate Ltd Co account for the solar farm activities, that seems to have slipped under the Radar...

As long as you do interact positively with them, they will not restrict your account. Ignore them, they will. My Genus rep told me that they had up to half a dozen accounts at a time on stop due to banks stopping payment due to this nonsense
