I will send a sample off to check for worms tho . They’ve never been wormed they have never been out. Hadn’t crossed my mind worth checking. Yes will give them a extra feed mid day for couple of days

What is the bushel weight of the barkey/wheat?

I which way are they not performing? Gaining weight or finishing condition?

If they,ve never been out they will of gone stale, usually find cattle do better on feed when they,ve spent time at grass

If on ad lib at such a young age he has overcooked them and their rumen will not be correct, I have seen it before, also not helping the situation is the fact he doesn't seem to be giving them a rumen buffer like Bi carb for example.

I find that hard, cold cattle will put on at least kilo and a half a day once on feed but soft hard fed young ones will do little over a kilo a day

This bicarb, how is it incorporated into the diet and in what quantities?
