Barn & field hire wanted - Peak District or broader Midlands

Hi

I've no idea if this is the right place to post or indeed if I'll get any responses - but here goes...

I'm looking for a venue to hold a wedding. My wedding. Basic requirement - space to put up a marquee, a barn or other permanent shelter in case of apocalypse, permission to light a bonfire, ability to have music post-midnight, access and parking for guests. We can bring catering, portaloos, generators etc. But it would be nice not to have to.

Dream requirement - a farm that offers on-site camping for guests with shower blocks etc, toilet/hot water facilities for guests so need for portaloos, (paid for) use of power. There's no need for a wedding license, we'd bring our own food and alcohol (not paid for so no need for booze license...).

I'm happy to pay for what these kinds of facilities are worth - but not at all happy to pay the £11,900-type of figures I'm being quoted just to USE a venue, before everything else. Use the word 'wedding' in any request and see the £££££££££s roll in on the estimates...

Location - ideally the Peak District/edges of Sheffield, as that's where we live. A lot of our friends are Birmingham-based so that would work too. However, we'd travel anywhere for the right location.

So - can anyone help? We'd set up and clear the site - and you'd be welcome to join the party... ;-)

Hi. I got married on a field on my farm in mid Wales. It was fantastic. I'd be happy to hire it if you wanted. Could even send you pics of our wedding and the stunning views. I'd also be happy to help find marqee his and catering. Hope this helps

Hi @Imhotep, I am also looking for a field to hire for a birthday party with similar requirements to the @Diddakal.
I would need space for about 10 campervans too.
If this is something you could offer could you let me know.
Thanks
Janice

To anyone interested in becoming a wedding venue or wedding host or any kind of event, for that matter.

The first rule of banqueting:

Do NOT under any circumstances offer to organise or provide any product or service beyond that which you are equipped to provide. If you have spent the time and money and got a field, parking and a nice barn for folk to get hitched in, provide that, charge for it, and do nothing more. By all means you may hand prospective clients a list of local caterers, bands, DJs and children's entertainers, hog-roast, outside bars, florists and the like. But do NOT attempt to involve yourself in organising these directly. Let the customer and the third party organise it between themselves.

The second rule of banqueting:

If you have a commercial kitchen and are in the business of providing food/catering or whatever, do NOT under any circumstances ever allow a third party to do any catering on your premises whatsoever.

Reason for rule 1: don't let your reputation be destroyed on someone's big day because the DJ forgot or something stupid.

Reason for rule 2: a food poisoning incident at your premises regardless of who was to blame will appear in the local press/trip advisor and that will be your business down the pan.

Lastly, get insurance.

Please feel free to print this out and nail to whatever prominent place is best.
