Basic fert spreader

Needing a new 2 bag fert spreader for grass with a spreading width of about 12m. The dealers I want to work with have came back with

Krm L15 plus
Sulky DX20+
KV Exacta CL 1550 (vicon version also priced)
Khun mds 18.2

All with in touching distance on price but any of the machines stand out or worth avoiding?

If your on grass without driver aids then look for a centreliner if they still make them. Was lely, tulip, or maybe teagle.
Double double overlap means virtually no striping.

I wouldnt look past a wagtail for that workload,under £3k for a 2 bag one.Simplicity itself to set up and use.

Get where you are coming but we had a bad experience with our last one and not desperate to go back.

Had a Kuhn mds 701 for years and never managed to stripe fields despite my best efforts! Can turn one side off for the headland run which makes life simple. Assuming the 18.2 is similar I’d recommend it.

Anyone know why pretty much all manufacturers have moved to the double hopper arrangement, one base feeding each disc.

The single hopper base feeding both discs is so much easier for 1 bag at the time quantities.

Single hopper feeding both discs and it does scatter fert on the tractor but only because the guard is as rot as a turd and will be replaced with some plastic when I get the chance. Hopper has survived well and only has one spot of rust that has needed a small patch but is getting to the stage where I have to be careful about oiling it to prevent complete rot. One issue is that the gearbox isn't designed to be worked on easily but we just chopped the agitator shaft, dropped the box to replace bearings and welded the shaft back together with a sleeve.

very little at all, only the odd 'bouncer'. Any dusty fert would sort of billow up behind the hopper and not so much on the tractor but nowadays I diesel/oil both the spreader and the back of the tractor before use which makes it loads easier to wash off.

The double hopper is PIA in my opinion. Use to have a Kuhn MDS with the single hopper, then purchased a Sulky DX18 as a replacement, not a good move.

20 year old Kuhn MDS here . For grassland with regular spreading seems fine.

Tulip centerliner here as another option was £3850 I think for a 1500kg one. Was 2k cheaper than krm equivalent. Does the job well

You won't go far wrong with the Sulky.
But you do need to wash it religiously every time it's used.
You will get a VERY tidy secondhand DPX under £1.5k in a sale.

afraid not, KRM/Bogballe only all double hoppers, Anyone able to hazard a guess why, I cant unfortunately

there is Kuhn/Rauch MDS in single hopper, and Abbey disc and not too many more unfortunately.
