Might be a bit late but what about cultural control or at least mitigating the effects of CSFB? Very topical, the examiners love the cultural control bit. You could always do a poll on here and also look at spring defolation in a crop with bad larvae infestation.

Looking at starting basis this autumn. The project looks to be the bit that causes me the most concern. Do they expect a lot of detail and countless references?
I found the project one of the simpler parts of Basis. I did it on replacing our chemical store at the time.Grass weed identification was the one that caused a few sleepless nights

I found the project daunting but once I got my head around it and got into the mindset of how it had to be laid out and referenced ect it soon came together.

Those of us who had a more practical mind set all found it daunting. The more academic ones blitzed it in an evening but struggled with the other stuff like spraying and understanding the workings of farming and crop protection in the real world.

I'd say give yourself plenty of time and get as much done as you can as soon as you can and get it out of the way so you can focus on the rest of the cause.
Also black grass and flea beetle have all been done to death so perhaps think of something a bit out of the box to do your project on.
