BASIS

Evening all. Hope this is the right place.

Looking to better myself this coming year looking into practical and theory courses. Is basis a good thing to do? anyone any experience with it? Not necessarily looking to become a full blown agronomist but like gaining new skills and who knows what the future holds if you need something to get ahead of others on a job hunt.

Any pointers welcome.

BASIS is ideal for anyone with a passing interest in agronomy. Very useful for people with an eye on farm management, doing a lot of spraying and the like.

BASIS and FACTS training both useful.

Basically you do the training for BASIS over the winter and take the little exams in the new year. It is taught by people who know their stuff and a lot of it is quite practical in nature so useful for anyone who hasn't been inside a classroom for a long time.

Thanks for the reply.

Is it something that can fit around a full time job well? I have signed up although obviously don't expect any material to arrive until into the new year.

All depends on the provider; as above 1 day a week, mine i did 3 blocks of 3/4 days over 1 winter and a day of exams (most spent waiting for your turn for the viva) or you can go to harper and do a condensed course within 10 days/ a fortnight. Really useful thing to have.
