Building a batch grain dryer shed. I have few ideas of how it’s going to go but any ideas would be good. Portal frame building Next to the grain store 7m high 14m wide split into 3. dryer in the middle wet store one side unload the other.. drive through unload.

Would the drier not be better on the outside with just a roof on,then covered wet and dry stores. no experience here with that set up but will you not get a lot of dust and condensation in that setup

I have very similar, although have panels at the end so can dump wet grain at the end. All I would say is that I would be keen to avoid emptying into a trailer as I would find that a faff and slow the process down. I will have a small bunker made of Crital panels that will take probably two loads out of the drier, as soon as empty start the intake again. Can your trailer take a full load out of dryer?

Other thought was have the wet tip In front of the dryer with a trench Conveyor Could unload either side then, but would need more concrete panels and a trench conveyor with extra ground works. Drain etc may be ott for a small set up.

What is your labour setup? I'd use more of the shed by putting the drier outside or under a lean-to. You'll need good ventilation for the shed if you're drying indoors. A big hopper over the loading auger and a bunker for rapid discharge of the drier so you can move the dry grain at your leisure when you're not filling the hopper.

Other than Perrys, who else makes the hoppers? I’d like a 20 ton hopper but one that I could move, but at the same time I’d also like one that isn’t too tall. Perrys do a 3 meter hopper that has pallet fork sleeves but that becomes quite tall whereas their 4 meter hopper wouldn’t be as tall but there isn’t an option of palet fork sleeves.

Masterfarm do hoppers of various sizes. I had a new batch dryer last year , stood it outside as a temp stop gap, have also bought a 10m trench conveyor and a decent conveyor for the main grain store. I have found it can be dusty so decent ventilation is needed if inside. I did get planning to put a wet tip pit/shed on teh side of the main shed but it is not going to happen due to various reasons so I will be having to build a new store and wet tip area so will have a blank sheet of paper to design it all.
My thoughts are keep it as simple as possible, minimal conveyors and go from there. But every yard/store is different, shapes, access etc etc so one design will do for one yard but not for another.
Being a one man band, I want to be able to tip and run and carry on combining, not faff about loading hoppers and shifting grain from one area to another, the thought of having a 100t of wet grain tipped and going out in the morning with it all having been dried and tipped in store is my ideal, but with that will come a cost but then it should see me out.

A covered Unloading Area a trailer to tip into which ever storeJust got to get the loader plumed to tip the trailers then one loader + one trailer .. it’s a bit far to run it round with the loader bucket There is never any labour that’s y setting up the dryer semi permanent is a ideal Time saver
So no dried or stored grain in the same building as the dryer only wet. As a for moisture one end and one half side completely open for good air flow.
+ another shed to use when not drying.

We have stuck pallets under the outlet of the 4m hopper to move them around and it worked fine.

Off topic but is simple to change the fuel a mobile drier uses? Ie from gas to kero? Can you simply change burners or is it much more involved than that?

You'll get moisture problems running down the inside of the roof if you put the drier in the middle the shed we've got ours in a bay that's separate from the store and the roof is always dripping onto the floor in certain weather conditions
