We need to replace our cattle crush. We only want something fairly basic but would like to be able to attach a head scoop. I'm looking at a IAE Saracen Suckler cattle crush. Any thoughts on this one or IAE crushes in general? Our last one was a Bateman. Don't want to go above 2K if possible. Thanks

I'm looking at this as well so watching with interest. So far best Ive looked at for suckler cows is the iae saracen. Seems to have good access for foot trimming, suckling etc

Bought a new IAE M100 squeeze crush with headscoop a year ago and have a youngstock crush on the way, The wight for normal IAE stuff is 3-5 months at th minute and crushes are nearly double that! The design and ease of use is great and the galvanising quality is fine. With either brand you wont be disapointed but it you want the best go for a Morris

We get on well with our Bateman manual squeeze crush. Great for putting calves on to suck, dehorning, have done a caesarean in it on a wild heifer too. It’s got a scoop fitted which helps for drenching. Not sure what it cost, don’t think it was excessively expensive, but suits us really well.

Was just going to ask,how much for a squeeze crush?

If I was you I would look at the Saracen rotating rump bar crush, we have 2. Both with scoops.. that rump bar is great for catching the flighty ones before the automatic head yoke catches them.

Asked the price of a Bateman hybrid crush at our local Wynstay a few days ago. It was around £1500+vat. I thought that was a reasonable price and it looked a really handy crush with access to every part of the animal.

They had a more expensive Bateman with a rotating rump bar and that was about £2100+vat.

Rotating rump bar would be a prerequisite on any crush I looked at now. It’s so much easier, and safer, especially if you ever need to work on your own IME. I’d stipulate that over any auto head yoke.

I couldn’t fault the last IAE crush I bought, but that was in 2006, so appreciate things might have changed.

My 10/ 15 year old IAE has a rotating rump bar and I've hated it since the day it arrived. My new Bateman has a sliding door and it's a 1000 times better
I worked with a rotary rump bar for the first time this autumn and for suck calves it was a revelation. How ever hard they tried they couldn’t kick you and it was a doddle taking bloods compared to one with a back gate

We have a Bateman ambassador manual squeeze crush with head scoop, from memory it around 4grand. We originally ordered the old model but ended up with the new model at the old price. Had it about 4yrs now and really rate it, one or 2 minor niggles but I've been sure to tell the Bateman rep about them.
