@MrNoo may know too

Yes, big outfit. Not flavor of the month to most after they put in for 2,500 houses that'll decimate what was a once lovely market town. A lot of tenanted farms been taken back in hand, assuming tenancy's been bought out (3 gen tenancy) Kemble was bought (ironic as his father sold that lot off years ago)
They're a bit Marmite really, you either like them or you dont.
They do have some nice toys and pretty much keep Lister Wilder going but then a lot of acres to cover.

I was at College with the Earl and he did a wonderful guided tour of the estate a few years ago as a reunion for those student contemporaries from Wye back in the late 70s and early 80's. This opened my eyes to some of the troubles a landed estate has compared with mere owner occupiers and tenants like me.

With the current tax regime I would think that I would be buying back tenancies if I had any. The Estate also owns a great deal of the town if I recall including the College which the current Earl didn't attend as his father wanted him to go elsewhere.

Dont think current tax regime will affect their tax planning, be different if UK starts taxing UK assets held offshore.
