Years ago batteries lasted alot longer than the 1s that the local motor factors sell. Is there batteries out there that would still last 10+ years?

The main thing to watch out for is that you are replacing like for like. This means cold cranking amps as well as the physical size.
you can easily buy a same physical size of battery, eg 663, with over 200a difference in cranking current.
If you replace with one with lower CCA, then it is likely the battery won’t last as long.
You will normally be able to tell if it’s lower CCA , as well, as the battery will be physically lighter.

It is also important, that when you fit the new battery that you securely fix it in place. In many occasions, the mounting strap can break, or the bolts strip, and people just throw the battery in, without securing it. (Baler tine is not suitable)The battery then bounces about and vibrates about, which is not good for the insides. ( I‘m sure these is some science in this, but I don’t have the details to hand)

And also importantly, is buy a well recognised make, being aware, that they may have differing specs and prices.
You’re normally safe with an oem battery, but sometimes the price is ridiculous, and it doesn’t warrant the extra money over the motor factors.
