Yes... we installed 40kw in 2019 and its been working well. I based the budget on electric prices at that time and now prices are going through the roof its an even better return.
I used a company called Moixa which uses intelligent software so it does alot more than just provided electric when the sun goes down.
Now about to install a Tesla 13kw system in a domestic situation too.

You dont need a Tesla. Use a Solis hybrid inverter and Pylontech batteries. They make up to 10kw output 3 phase inverters and add as many batteries as you want. £750 per 2.5kw storage.

We used pylon tech originally for our 40kw system. It also allowed us to output a balanced 3 phase supply which suited the business needs. In the domestic situation the tesla is a better fit for the size of system and physical size. Were also adding a second inverter so the system can auto switch in the event of a power cut. (We haven't got the tesla battery yet... Ukraine situation could make it a much longer wait.)

Looking at Givenergy system for a domestic install... Quite a lot of different options and retrofitting to solar confuses things too. DC vs AC etc.

We did similar in 2020 with Tesla’s and solar. When doing the cost model, I did put in a figure for electricity inflation though, but thats been blown out the water to say the least.

Would it work with both a hydro and solar input or would I require two systems as the outputs are totally different. ie 700w on 24/7 and max 4kw solar for 10 hrs.

Two charge controllers can work together on the same battery bank, just like two solar strings.

A friend just replaced lead acid with two 12v 300 watt hour li ion. Retail cost US$3,600 for 7.2KWH. You can order them cheaper, but he wanted professional support.
