did say up this thread I would post the weights of the bullocks/ heifers. They were sold between 8 and 9 months and averaged 400kg and £900 in january and a dwg of 1.26kg . Have bought two bluex cows now to see if it works

Read all these good things about Bazadaise easy calving etc.so decided to give em a try, bought some Edonil semen last year and tried it on my angus x heifers ,1st one calved a week early and after a couple of hours produced a heifer calf,2nd one came on to calve this morning (6 days overdue ) after giving her time decided to intervene resulting in a extreme difficult calving (calf stuck half way out which killed it) producing a monster bull calf far bigger than the blue cross calves that our suckler cows are calving with no problems.Has anyone else had trouble with Bazadaise calvings.

sorry to hear that you lost a calve. Ive been using a bazadaise bull for 3 crops of calves now, ive only 12 cows but all calves small at birth and easy calved [ touch wood have one about to go justnow] , Used my bull on a neighbours cows though and one of his cows is by edonil , the calve was a monster bull calve and was dead as well . Choochter will know more abour Edonil

I sometimes think it's not always the bull's "fault" some cows seem to throw huge calves no matter the sire. We had a Hereford X heifer that threw a big dead bull calf and to be honest l wanted her gone ( l didn't like to carry passengers) but my elders and betters decided to keep her and give her another chance so they put her in calf to the easiest calving AA bull Genus had at the time, we had many calves by him before which were tiny at birth , never gave us any calving problems and they always grew well. Anyway 9 months later she gave birth to the most gigantic ( and dead) 'Black Charolais' bull calf l had ever seen.
When she recovered Flossie went into the fattening yard!

The British Bazadaise Cattle Society will be at J36 Kendal this Thursday for Beef Expo - come and visit our stand. We'll have cattle from Pat and Bernard Gill's Yarlsber herd - a 10 year old bull and a cow with a bull calf by the AI bull Imprevu. Come in by and chat about Bazadaise, we'll have several Baz breeders ready to talk to you over a cup of tea or coffee. Stand 118.

I'll put up another pic in a month, you'll see a fair difference then
They don't have to give birth to big thumping lumps to get good calves.

Just started calving the sucklers to the Bazidaise first couple have been waiting in the shed dry and full when we’ve gone out to morning milking Not the biggest and shapest of calves but they make up for that with the ease of calving and wellness to get up and gone. Long may it continue
