if you can get hold of a call bird, you could catch lots of magpies in a cage trap. I was in a facebook group to exchange call birds but for some reason the group got cancelled

So easy to catch them and clear out the population of egg eaters for miles around, if you have a call bird. Ditto carrion / hooded crows, bit more difficult, but extremely rewarding.
The wild bird population has surged this past few years, big mobs of gold finches and yellowhammers, and yesterday a pair of bramblings in the garden.

I just caught the end of Batters on the news..... looked dressed as if her central heating had broken down! Anyone have a link as I can't find it?
