Well no. I'm someone who, when conducting an argument, likes to have facts and not some made up crap.

Spent 10 minutes googling while having coffee. I've found nothing.

The important distinction is that if there are twice the cattle compared to 200 years ago , then there will be twice the methane production that has a higher warming effect than co2.
Is any of that incorrect?
Even if cattle numbers have doubled, the human population had far more effect. From 1800 to 2000 it went up 631%

Not withstanding the carbon effect of being at war almost every day somewhere in that time.... Also not withstanding the fossil fuel useage for recreational tourism which is completely as unnecessary as war. Yet the middle class cant wait to jump back on a plane and jet off to their favorite holiday spot, all the while happily being brainwashed into thinking its animal agriculture fault.....

which is why I am in favour of compromise, yes, growing potatoes needs lots of cultivation, but then maybe have a ley to rebuild after the soil damage, more mixed farming I think.

What is your opinion of maize or fodder beet on steep fields?

Or grazing stubble turnips on saturated fields close to rivers.

I'm guilty by the way, although mostly veg/potatoes in my case with regard to erosion.

But if we clean our own act up a bit, we can collectivily bang on the table & say we are right. I know not popular but I do support the idea of clover leys on arable farms & less fattening barley beef style (I used to do that). Yes grain still needed but reduce it considerably & build fertility & reduce blackgrass etc.

The consumer is responsible though, consumer wants lean beef with a small amount of white fat, to keep cattle on grass/silage you really need an animal which has more marbling to the meat & the silage will make it creamy if not pale yellow colour.

So if we all go out & shoot 5 people each, the Worlds problems would be solved?

My daughter has to my surprise got herself a job working for a PR outfit, hence the reason a country chap not used to heavy road traffic successfully negotiated central London traffic last night (I am just hopeful I didn't trigger any camera traps en route!) And her role from what I can make out is a 'researcher'. Of her salary over half will got to pay the 'inflated' London rent for her room - met the Landlady last night at 9pm for key handover (of Russian extraction from the accent) So a degree in Politics and off she goes. The firm she is working for has from the website and her comments principals who I recognized straight away as regular contributors to national news media. So there you have it. As a world of which I know nothing I await with interest any debriefs from her.

If she goes to the Odeon in Putney, and says 'code name Delilah' at the ticket booth, she may (if sprog on duty) get herself a freebie into a movie (y) .

He’s doing a full half hour on it. Discussing the highly processed nature of the alternative products and also the drip drip of propaganda throughout media outlets.

Shame so few people watch this channel.

I know of Rupert Lowe and he likes to come on the combine at times when cutting his wheat. A great guy who calls a spade a spade , and certainly does not suffer fools gladly!!!

Sorry who is Rupert Lowe?

I shall try to be open minded, but Rupert as a name, gives a certain impression.
Apologies, might be best if you Google “Rupert Lowe member of European Parliament”. ( or was)
He was giving his thoughts on “foreign aid” on the GB news channel and quit rightly said a lot of foreign aid is not audited and more than lightly some of it ends up in some foreign prime ministers Swiss Bank Account. Spot onI reckon.

I do wonder that when theses so called boffins do their calculations re - beef & sheep carbon footprint, whether they actually include the benefit of grassland pasture and just include farting animals then conclude that if the beef & sheep weren't there the scrub that would take over would still do the job of grassland but with the benefit of no farting animals

Absolutely deplorable the way agriculture is victimised for doing so much harm to the atmosphere, while major airlines are not mentioned. Why is this so, as to me a completely unbalanced situation “agriculture is the bad industry for the environment, yet the airline industry very rarely mentioned for creating global warming”. Why is this unbalanced victimisation of agriculture being allowed to happen , I do wish @Janet Hughes Defra would explain the above situation to us.

Tbf I did say NFU and AHDB. Here is the AHDB link. 6% from livestock, 4% from crops, ie 'more than half of food emissions are from livestock'. As reported by the BBC.

Ref the NFU, post 128.
I've looked at your link and am confused at where "more than half...." is situated in the link. Do you mean 6% is more than 4%? That's not remotely the same thing. Even Joseph Poore can't extrapolate 10% into over 50% by hoping no one notices food emissions (ie the entirety of the food chain, ie supermarkets and all their feeder industries) vs specifically agriculture. Btw when did 4.5% turn into 6%? I didn't get the memo.

Obv the BBC (and others, it's not just the effing BBC, why does everyone bang on about them specifically?) have no qualms about spouting shiit without feeling any guilt.

I was just thinking about this.
Ask anyone to list some of the causes of carbon emissions and they’re likely to come up with several.
Now ask them to come up with ways in which carbon can be absorbed out of the atmosphere. How many of those people will say anything other than “planting trees”?
The word sequestration doesn’t help matters as most people don’t know what it means.
We need to see a big push in educating people about soil carbon storage. Get this understood and the rest will follow on.

Our world in data has aviation at 1.9% of global emissions in their 2020 pie chart. Everyone bangs on about flying on here but I struggle to get incandescent over 1.9% when there are far bigger targets to be vilifying. Go outside the farming bubble and the level of waste in general society is absolutely sickening, food waste being one of these waste categories.
