The only people cutting down native, natural woodland near me are in the outdoor/forrest school to extend the car park and stack the punters higher! Irony is clearly non-toxic.

Essex man, idont know what british history they talk you at school, but i can remember we were talk, stoneage, bronze age, roman s etc, back to the stoneage.Britian like most if not all europe, went from hunter gathereres, to settled farming communities, and with that forest, tree clearance happened, to both clear the land to grow crops, keep livestock, but also use the cleared timber to build construct the first dwellings, this was thousands of years ago, as many tv prorammes show? Basic schoolboy history, that those that govt, dictate our farming/land policy today seem to forgot?

and also the only ones in this area who are knocking down removing hedges are building developers .latest one was a garden centre
