Pity it's not broadcast nationwide. I was able to find it on BBC Wales via sky but only because I have a passing interest in dairy related stuff! This is the kind of program Joe and Josephine need to see, right across the UK.

Everyone has something to say about Adam Henson but is it just me or does anyone else feel that a little is taken away from GWJ's contributions because there's an ego that gets in the way?

I don't know the guy personally, we 'converse' via twitter. It's the first time I have seen a programme with him in, I didn't get the impression of an ego coming across. I thought he spoke well of our industry and gave time to those to whom he was speaking. It seemed as though GWJ was getting a little choked up speaking to the guy milking his cows for the last time with his son in the parlour before heading off to auction.

Whatever the opinion of others, as a first episode of this programme I found it an excellent portrayal of dairy farming to the general public.

I agree, i definitely saw a glint in his eye and if i'd have been there, i'm sure there would have been one in my eye. It's heartbreaking, because it's not just a job, or even a career.

watched that milkman programme, good to let the public know the sh!t we go through, however I really don't think the public give a sh!t really, some will care but majority really don't care how many dairy farms go out of business. the amount of times the farmers said their cop was 22 pence and 24 pence was unbelievable!! I got told I was a disgrace to the industry saying we could get by on 24 pence through the next downturn! don't know what @westwards and the duck thought of their cost of productions, maybe these guys are a disgrace to the industry aswell??? totally got choked up when the guy was in the parlour talking about selling the cows and when he was getting choked up, emotional stuff

I didn't see the programme, only have freeview here, I'd need 30p a litre before I could afford to put in sky! But I agree with supercow that the majority of people don't really care what happens to dairy farmers or any farmers for that matter. You get all these surveys/reports etc coming to the conclusion that people are willing to pay extra for their milk, very easy to say that when you're standing on a street answering a few questions to some student with a clipboard, different matter when you're standing at the supermarket shelf looking at 4 litres for a pound or whatever it is.

There's a link to play it on screen in the other thread in Agricultural Matters, just watched it and thought it was done very well, Clive Norbury has changed a bit since I used to buy cows out of Crewe

Unfortunately so have I !!!!

I think the key thing is they don't know how much they pay they want it so they will pay it and it's as simple as that

Everyone around here seems to think GWJ is a complete wally, however (and it is the first time I've ever watched him) he seemed quite good to me.
As the headless one says, people want milk they'll pay for it surely. If milk was 2 quid a pint they are hardly going to refuse to buy it are they and put water on their cornflakes and have black tea. Or am I wrong?
