When I set out this morning at 3am to go milking, there was about 3 - 4. Inches of snow and a strong wind so the falling snow was drifting. This was very localised as there was only about an inch the other side of Forfar. I'm not sure my boss believed me! About an hour and a half later the strong wind got much worse and the we lost the electric. By 8.30 most of the snow was gone!

Just watching the BBC news about folk being evacuated due to storm surge high tides!!!
Is it really that risky? Seems a bit ott sending the army out warning folk.

yes, they have to play it careful. Remember 1953. The main problem was lack of communication. Nowadays there is obviously much better comms and it would be criminal if such an event occurred again because they didn't play safe. A family member lives below sea level near the Wash and it is not a nice feeling when the dykes do not seem to drop the levels at all between tides and there's a spring tide and a storm surge on its way. On the flat lands, once the water is through the defences it can go an awful long way.

Lovely sunny day here in South Devon. BBC Spotlight sent some idiot to the highest point of Dartmoor last night to find a scraping of snow and there was a little on the truck this morning which my youngest boy (7) was very excited about as he's never seen snow or at least can't remember it.

We had about 3 or 4 inch yesterday. Last night it was blowing a gale and i expected to wake up to drifts everywhere but most of it melted! Temperature must of risen or it rained through the night. Snowed a bit today, some roads where pretty bad!
Bbc app said it would snow all last night and today.

Just watching the 6pm news. Headline "Blizzards sweep UK". Then some footage from todays "Blizzard" with a light dusting and grass still poking through...not even enough to take the kids sledging. Then more footage of heavy snow "up to 8 inches deep", in a park, with a bloke walking his dog. Then a shot of the snow bound roads, showing tarmac and an inch of slush in the middle.

Makes you wonder what other crap the Media are feeding us....such as the criticism of Trump getting on well with the Russians.....is that not a good thing??
Plenty of snow in north wales mountains

Looking at twitter it seems some slight flooding did happen at Whitby, Scarborough and Hornsea. Videos of sea coming over the wall and rushing down the street.
