In essence it's correct.
Not really, the more agricultural land you own yes the more BPS you will have received. Either directly or through it's effect on the rental value of land. But there are some extremely wealthy people who won't have received any BPS, as they don't own or occupy any land.
So the BBC statement is completely incorrect.

There must be a lot of farmers who are far from rich, but claim significant amounts of BPS.
There are also a lot of people who are immensely rich but wouldn’t know a cow from cow parsley, let alone be able to make a BPS claim.

which is about 68m people out of a total 68m people in the UK!

I suppose it's kind of right. The more land you own....the bigger the payment.....to fund more land.......to get a bigger payment......

one thing i will say is that farmers never set the price they were to receive in subsidy its not like i said give me this much ? that's what they paid for at the time and let it roll .. we have all adjusted our businesses to suite .. but they paid us and now make it seem like we paid ourselves ??

That's the problem people think owning a farm is a lottery
win and don't realise sacrifices were made to pay for it in the beginning.
I dont want to moan about subsidies but neither am I going to subsidise
cheap food for the British public .There are plenty of alternative ways to gain income other than food production.

It's got nothing to do with the public. It's about the BBC and their reporting. The words i quoted were a direct quote from the lunchtime BBC news reporters mouth on the changes to farming. Even if you try and take it out of context of the wider report he made, it is not a correct statement and infers an incorrect assumption to those who don't know any better.
