Beans harvest update

This is really interesting Rob. What was the treatment on the trial area? I'm interested to know from @TomWilkinsonADASCropPhys whether it's normal to get that sort of yield difference on a YEN trial area vs the rest of the field - is that truly the treatment, or is it just that the treated area could miss out headlands, gateways, patchy bits, etc? If that's a true yield difference, I'm really intrigued to know what you did differently!
Also interesting that this is your earliest harvest ever - I've spoken with a number of farmers harvesting beans early with yields over 6t/ha! Anyone else getting cracking results?

The trial area was accurately marked out, area applied was the area harvested.
Carried out some leaf tissue analysis in April and May, see attached results.
We looked to address the dificiencies with foliar applied trace elements with the two fugicide applications. We also factored in some maintenance requirements.
The trial area then received a foliar amide nitrogen application around early to mid flowering equating to 4.8kg/ha of applied nitrogen.
A second round of foliar amide nitrogen was applied towards the end of flowering, equating to 3.2kg/ha.
The thinking behind the nitrogen was to prolong flowering and help pod fill. Difficult to say if this had a positive response. It will be interesting to see if the YEN picks up any differences.

Beans were drilled 7/10/24 as deep as we could, with our Mzuri into chopped spring barley straw, 25seeds/m, home saved Tundra. Managed to roll it also.
