It's no good just saying that the date say's they have to be planted if the ground is still too wet.The last thing you want to do is force a seedbed as if it comes dry it will only cap like concrete.
It's the same with maize, usually the slightly later sown overtakes the early planted crops on all but the very light land.

Well put them in today bit of tilth first couple of inches then somewhat plastercine the next two. Will put the power harrow or top tilth over them Sunday/Monday to leave a finish and put some soil in the slots. Pretty happy though for the year.

Every man to himself....but doesn't that rather defeat the point of using a Claydon if you're following it with another cultivation?

The claydons not the perfect tool. If it was like last year would say job done but sometimes it's a case of thinking on you feet.

Makes sense.....in normal years you'd expect it to be one pass, but this time around it needed a little help. Understandable. Normally roll ours after the Horsch to help that and keep the moisture in.

Please only from perspective of debate why do anything. Your area payment is I think got for area no need for crop. Just leave alone and do nowt. Again just a query.
Along with why the rush . Wait the darn seed does not function/work by date why therefore should the people who shove the seed in by a triumph of technology over mother nature be right, Pa is a virtue.
