Bearing cap

I need to replace some bearings in a roller from the old Massey 822 baler. Simple job but I need a new cap that protects the bearing, are these something off the shelf from the bearing factors or something bespoke?

The last time I had to deal with bearings with shields like that fitted to them, they were custom made for the machine manufacturer (Cousins double press) and getting new bearings from them complete with shields fitted was either about the same price or cheaper than anyone else we tried could supply the standard bearings for.

The picture is just the cap, which goes over a standard 6307 bearing.

Ah, she shield isn't a press fit onto the bearing. Just looking at the pics reminded me of some that were.

is that a one way bearing you have there or am i mistaken.

as for a cap, would an oil seal of the right dimensions get you away.

there’s no bearing in the picture just the cap, I had thought about using an oil seal.

i know its not an answer to your problem but if you don't mind humoring me.
to me that looks like a bearing in the second and third pictures above?
it would spin one way and not in the other direction.

if it is I cant figure out why they they would put a bearing like that in a roller but i could be all wrong on it being a bearing.

It is a little confusing, I’ve cleaned the cap up hopefully it makes a bit mores sense:

There is a grey plastic moulding, Which is a tight fit on the shaft and pushes up against the inner race of the bearing and the pressed metal ring that Is a tight fit in the roller.

It seems like a very good system as there is no way for anything to get to the bearing, until the bearing fails anyway.

Hope this makes a bit more sense.

It seems like a very good system as there is no way for anything to get to the bearing, until the bearing fails anyway.
