It would cost me more to buy a tractor and box though
But you can often sell a tractor after 10 years for about the same as you paid for it.

But a pickup, even one only used by an old lady to go to church once a week for 10 years, would be worth a fraction of its original price.

Only if you buy new. Ours stopped depreciating about 5 years ago.

A new tractor depreciates hugely in 10 years too....

Even second hand tractor stock boxes make more than our livestock trailer and pickup stand us in.

how bout an old Zetor and red diesel. :sneaky:

if its a distance problem then not sure how keeping sheep miles apart /away from base can pay :unsure: its different in New Zealand :giggle:

I wouldn't use a tractor for anything else so it would sit idle
Most important thing is to try and limit movements to start with
I guess i have access to local farmers with tractor /box combos if needed

If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
Department check last year, sent all requested information to them and got a reply a fortnight later that there was nearly 20 things that needed checking, turns out nearly every one was registration numbers in either movement book or flock records.
