I went out to carry on cutting beans first thing this morning, to find that somebody had smashed the cab door on the combine, stolen the contents, and discharged the fire extinguisher around the cab interior. Thus it's been an uncomfortable days work today. Although a friend made me a makeshift door after lunch. We think maybe the miscreants were after GPS equipment although the combine doesn't have any.
However around this area there seem to be incidents happening almost nightly now, with the criminal fraternity safe in the knowledge that the nearest police station is 20 miles away. The Police Force now seemingly a crime data collection service rather than crime prevention or prosecution.

Can't 'like' that.

That's just a couple from today.
The police are over stretched, under funded, under staffed and bloody useless:mad:

Recently I had some small items stolen from my car when it was parked outside the house overnight. I reported the theft and a month later the police posted a flyer througb my door showing items that had been found on a couple of guys who were caught in the act of trying to get into someone elses car by their CCTV. My items were on the list so I contactd the police. Another month went by and I was asked to go to police station to identify items. This took over a hour with the PC writing a multi page statement by hand. My items were retained by the police for evidence at a possible trial.
Of course no sign of the £000's worth of tools that have been lifted from my workshop.
The police procedures seem to be so archaic that they will never keep up with thieves, terrorists, scumbags whatever if they have to spend hours recording the smallest incidents with a pencil and paper.

the good old days, in the village i grew up in, the village police house, scared to be caught riding your bike on foot path, police did bike proficey test at village school, Knew nearly ever body in village cause you went to school with them and played with them, Saw village bobby every day patrolling around, first on a little motorcyle, then later on in a white mini van, he new every body and any problems were mostly settled by having a word, Now forward 40 odd years, nearly all the families i grew up with have left, replaced yes with bigger so called mansions? but weres the good old days gone ?

I'm not sure whether this has worked. There should be a picture of the newly commissioned "shed and buried" door.
Our fire extinguisher was a foam one liberally applied over the cab electrics which are ok at the moment. We have mentioned this to the insurance company. What effect does the foam have on things?

You dare not leave anything. We found out the hard way too. Car left in a public car park in view of everyone just for a few minutes. Came back , smashed window and bye bye Satnav. O K we should not have left it but there we are, you live and learn:(

I had a really quick response from the police when I had stuff from a shed nicked. Within 20 mins a car turned up, out jumped a police women, I showed her a now empty shed, she gave me a crime number and off she went......bit of a waste of time really.:scratchhead:

A friend of mine who is a owner driver had his truck emptied of diesel and two other lads trucks empited one night where they park up, sercue compound that they paid to park in every night, police came out and basically said that they know who did it but they are just lads with nothing to lose so no point going after them for what will just be a fine ! Two days later mate was pulled by the police for blowing his horn at a car driver who was doing 25mph along a A road and refusing to let people past ! Soft target for the police unlike going after pikeys for stealing fuel !

Its totally getting out of hand. Went to collect the hayzip and someone has nicked the two long connection pins. Have got in the habit of not leaving top link bars and pto shafts lying around but this is a step to far.

read on a news site over the weekend.....that if you've 'an educated .good english accent' the police won't respond to your call soon.....they've to prioritise those who have english as a second language

I live in the west (Colorado) previously wild and can tell you such things as you guys are experiencing would never happen here.............you need a new sheriff in town.
Same in Wyoming. Friends never lock anything. 1st time i visited we drove into town and couldn't believe they just parked the car and left the windows down to let air in. Do that here and be nothing left when you return.

Or different gun laws. I found during my time in Texas people were much more respectful on nights out. Maybe I imagined it.

I lost the PTO shaft to my Kuhn tedder one night. I can only conclude they nicked it as it was very long they were able to shorten it for something they were selling at the Steam Fair.
