The National Beef Association (NBA) has decided to cancel its flagship event – Beef Expo – for 2020.
The event, which is the largest technical beef event in the UK, draws in around 4,000 beef farmers each year and is a major showcase for pedigree and commercial breed societies who want to promote the quality of their cattle.
The expo was initially planned to take place on May 28, 2020. However, has become the latest in a series of large-scale agricultural events across the UK to be cancelled because of Covid-19.
A statement from the NBA read: “As a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the National Beef Association have taken the decision to cancel this year’s Beef Expo.
Bringing together the very best in British commercial and pedigree cattle, equipment, ground-breaking developments, and show classes for everyone involved in the industry, NBA Beef Expo is a celebration and exploration of everything British Beef has to offer.
2020 was planned to be a special year for the event, with the expo due to take place in the NBA’s new auction, business and conference centre as part of celebrations to officially open Darlington Farmers Auction Mart’s new Humbleton Park Auction Centre.
A series of farm tours and the annual beef industry dinner were also planned to take place in the lead-up to the event.
Beef Expo is also host to the National Commercial Cattle Show and the South Devon Technical Championships.
