Buy some shares in Farmer Owned Abbatoirs . Most Farmers sit on assets worth hundreds of thousands now due to land prices so most have the bucks to back an investment. Agree with above dont think any politician in any country wants to upset the apple cart. Imagine the wine industry being upset supplying the British market as one example. Lot of money made and lost in any industry -- If you want to export it get more control of your product. Land worth billions but having to wait and see what money we receive every day we set out to sell. Need to sell that odd thistley paddock and invest in Automated robotic slaughter and cutting plants for lambs. Industry needs to modernize and take advantage of modern techniques with i am sure sensible funding from Governments. Google/ youtube the robotic system which others are investing in overseas - fascinating

Woodheads are 3.68 before bonuses (10p in spec steers 15p heifers) this week. They won’t set next weeks price till Friday.

Are there any minimum weight restrictions on cull cows and what would O+ / O- fit beef bred cows be at the moment. Just weighing up if it’s better to send them dead or through the mart for someone else to fatten

I'm not in the cow job but if it was me I would get them to Carlisle plenty of buyers around that ring bidding for alsorts

That’s my dilemma, Carlisle is an hour and half drive each way and a day away from the farm, Dawn is twenty minutes drive and I can be home for breakfast

They are bad to value when you take them to Carlisle the trade is good at the moment and yes there’s plenty of buyers.

If they are dry bag yes but if the have been sucking calves the could weight as little as 45/6 %

They always do that when they could buy them cheaper live weight it’s the oldest trick in the book

Grades very good lots E grade but are tending to run fat weights OK still going to work with thwm
