Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Good export types still a good trade at Stirling, but far to many heavy weights. And far to many lean blackie ewes, most just stores really,. Never under stood why folk take them on a fat day.

I never saw many sold but they would be a fair bit below the average. 75/80?. Nice beltex / texels 43kgs are what's wanted. , saw a nice pens of stores on Monday 3640kgs made 74. The guy had ran out of stubble turnips.

47.5kg yesterday that were back end lambs held £83.50. 42.5kg making 80-83. Texels and Cheviots. Shouldn’t have many more heavies left then can start drawing for 42.5kg.

why? when sheep are short they will be (if they will be tho?) that is the crux of the matter and who ever knows what is really out there and what imports are going on the shelves

I don't think heavyweights will be wanted this spring, l was talking to a buyer and he said that above 44 is just not wanted theses days Nice 38/44.. is what's wanted. They are easier to get. I always wondered where those big 50kg lambs go.

Trade today was terrible.
47kg - 49kg took 125 and averaged £80.5
Seriously nice lambs too. [emoji31]
I think a lot of lambs last year were going to Norway [emoji1189]which apparently created a good demand for lambs late January. That coupled with low imports of New Zealand lambs...
I guess the super markets were never going to let lightning strike twice two years in a row.
