Yep I use it that most weeks, works well not many weeks have the Auction Marts been in front, 10/15mins in a queue then off home not all day wasted in a Market.open dial weights and as you say dependent on weight and fatness...that's if they are to fat.. you know exactly what your going to get before you load..how simple
yep and you don't have to put up with the pee take

Sorry can't not do this week, 4 about to go over weight and they shafted me 2 weeks ago on deductions. And I believe that is the main reason for setting of the the weight limits , to maintain a constant supply.
if theyre hungry they wont mind cattle being a little overweight....in fact more weight/meat would be better for them.

But you won’t know what next week is until end of next week will you?
They base their price on what others have been paying
Thats true but they do seem to hold their price up better than most.averages seem to be down on last week but they have held their price same as previous week.

We need as farmers to be buying into processing, until we do everyone has us by the...
A recent survey shows something like 85% of shoppers trust British farmers, so it would be a selling point if we controlled more of the supply chain.
It's not something we can do over night but we need a 10-15 year plan. Buying a small percentage of several different abbattiors would be a start , using AHBD levy money perhaps or collecting it in the same way ( a small levy per cow/ lamb ).
Bring it on has worked with Fresh buying two abattoirs got some money for shares

That would be sensible providing we left the running of them to folk who know the business. I would happily buy into a good two-man scrap-metal business (if Gordon Brown hadn't outlawed them). But I would certainly leave the running to those who understand it.

Unless you were exporting or had your own retail outlets I dont think it would work ,as the main supermarkets would give you the cold shoulder

Yes I agree that's why I think we have to buy a percentage of existing abbattiors.
If they needed anything updating we could offer from our fund the money for a percentage of their business.
I have spoke to various people about this & the thinking is we don't know when some of the abbattiors are about to go bust , to be able to step in and support them but I think if it was made clear their was a fund available for modernisation maybe some would be interested?

They're not going to go hungry because they are subsidising people to keep dairy bred calves and paying for it by driving the rest of the market down
Do you reckon they're over-paying for dairy-bred? Nothing very exciting when there's a penalty before rushing headlong down the grid.

Sadly end use is dominated by processed beef; it may be that dairy-bred is the most efficient way to produce this. There seems to be no limit on demand for cows, with mixed finishers begging to slip away a few clean on a load of cows.
