Would you sell has stirk or store ring

Your's defo sell in the stirk ring!

All depends on the day but at Sedge on Sat he would have made anywhere between £480/550 at a guess.

Week before £425/70 head!

Hearing some shockingly low stirks prices at Exeter on Friday, well reared/ smart BBX heifers £145 head for example!

They'll all have lost me money though.

Those cattle were an absolute credit to you had e nuff.

Cattle like that need to be making at least £900+ in this day and age to show a return for all the work/ capital invested.

Will be a sad day when you have your farm sale, the beef industry cannot afford to lose highly skilled young farmers like yourself but there will be a lot more driven out of the beef cattle job if these prices don't improve soon.

My blue steer did last wednesday.I kept him a year for next to nowt, other than company.
Sold all 26 of my stores over the last couple of weeks. Mostly Hereford steers and heifers with 6 shorthorn steers . After all costs I’m about £1k up on what I paid for them . 18 made money, 8 didn’t as I’d paid too much for them. Prices ranged from £400 to £625. These were all tidy cattle at 16/17 months old. Incidentally the red herefords heifers made more than the black heifers for some reason . Luckily I’d only had them for the summer and only fed grass.
Thought I’d get them gone as some buyers reckoned they would be cheaper again, when more numbers come off grass .
