Folks just wanting their grass eaten on wet ground that wont take cattle anymore before the winter sets in.There cant be any other reason.Mid 60s for a store lamb will leave very little,if anything.

Yes Dairy boys have put cattle in earlier and there is plenty of grass that would suit lambs it seems. Roots good in Wales but not so good in the Midlands i have heard -- is that the case?

I hope so (prime picking up that is!!), they really are dire, surely they’ve bottomed out now. Everyone needs a fair margin along the line, but there’s someone creaming that £200 and I’m sure they were still making money when they were dear

When would you say they would be fit to kill?

About half of them only need a couple of weeks on reseeds or dairy grass. Half are maybe a month to 6 weeks off. Not much goodness in the grass at this time of year though.

The trouble is I needed to save what good grass I have left for the ewes. The turnips are looking poor too so I want to give them as long to bulk up as possible. Don’t want to run out of grub for the ewes during the winter.
