Mart report says they were a flying trade£3500 the top, someone told me.Calves a very good trade.Even the bottom end were too dear to buy.Hard to see how anyone can make much in the fat when they are paying £900 to £1000 at 8 months old.

Sorry I wasn’t there. Haven’t heard anything either. Sometimes when things are heading downwards Longtown fat takes a clatter upI dont know what Longtown store was like on Tuesday.Do you know what the fat was like today? Acklington down to 159p,and Darlington said it was easier but no average up on their mart page.
I heard all good in spec cattle made fairly decent money but as usual anything out of spec made low money. Same old story, quality commands the premium.Looked to be a decent trade on cattle in Hereford today . Didn't stay long but there seemed to be a bit of spirit in there.fattening bulls I thought were good money
Now on that trade they are anywayWhen would you say they would be fit to kill?
May as well start weighing store lambs then! Nothing is weighed in any mart round hereCan’t comment on the big bullocks!! But store cattle are often weighed before entering the ring up here in Scotland, doesn’t seem bizarre at all to know the weight of what you are buying!
You’ll want to know what grade they are nextHaha, some markets weigh store lambs too!
was there as well didnt think the 2t looked very dear (the ones i saw sold ) , good lamb price though well doneDecent trade for store lambs at Wilton Fair. Happy with that. View attachment 838778
Were you sat on top of the stage to the rightWell I called into Welshpool at 7 am, had breakfast and a look around the mart, very impressive and such a beautiful part of the world....then I couldn’t resist a trip to bishops castle to watch the store cattle as it will probably the only time I’m ever there again
I thought trade was very good considering the finished price ....two of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen were A-the fact the cattle were weighed before entering the ring and B- a pen of 750 kilo store charalois bullocks
What a quaint mart it is...it must have the smallest cafe I’ve ever seen and the most basic ring I’ve ever seen
Full credit must go to @sherg s in-laws for a tremendous run of store cattle...exceptional bred cattle

Unusual for cattle not to be weighed nowadays i would of thought. What did those monster bullocks make?Well I called into Welshpool at 7 am, had breakfast and a look around the mart, very impressive and such a beautiful part of the world....then I couldn’t resist a trip to bishops castle to watch the store cattle as it will probably the only time I’m ever there again
