PGI status, farm assured from birth to slaughter, born, reared, slaughtered and processed in Scotland and therefore a brand recognised as a quality product by over 90% of consumers.
Mine is bvd free...mine is farm assured from birth to slaughter...mine is slaughtered and processed in England
I am by no means knocking Scottish beef but it is by no means any better than English beef just because it’s 2 miles over Hadrian’s wall

Scottish cattle have always been dearer than English
Historically, the largest percentage of scottish beef cattle were suckler bred (many with AA blood) and tended to be well finished whilst English cattle had a much higher percentage of dairy bred animals. This gave scottish cattle a great reputation south of the border especially at the highly important Smithfield market in London. It was from this reputation that the brand was developed.

As I said I’m not denying it’s good beef but mine is also beef bred sucklers...it’s just a marketing gimmick

None of us have crystal balls.! So really it's make your own mind up time. As others have said trade will rise a little bit more yet but could turn a bit jittery going into the 2nd half of January.
How much grass have you got might be a factor as well.
Someone once said if you see a stick you should cut it,- ie trade is OK ish at the min.
I remember keeping them on, well into the new yr last yr and the trade never lifted like I had hoped!
Make your own mind up lol

You could always buy some back if you think that you are missing a trick. I usually buy some Hill lambs back to sell later. Sounds daft but to reduce numbers when room and grass is tight is often a good move if the trade allows. I often look at it in the way ‘would I be able to buy the lambs at the price I’m selling them at and make a shilling’

A lot more beef cattle in Mold today , but the trade held up, our top price per kg was £1.95/kg for a simental x steer, and £1382 for a 730kg Angus. averaged £1.82 over seven.

Scottish cattle and lamb seem to kill out better, don't know why but they always seem to perform better on average. Alot of wholesalers will pay a few pence more for Scottish.
Its cos of the colder climate if you slice one in half you will see the rings are much closer together indicating the shorter growing season, ads to the quality don't you know
