cant see why anything cant be discussed on a public forum , we need to know our lambs are receiving an open fair hearing , felt very uneasy just leaving stock yesterday . weights were a bit lighter than at home by about 3-4kg ? but will overlook that as they were in night before . as long as dealers/ buyers arnt playing games behind closed doors fair enough . Will be the end of auctions if not .....And people wonder why farmers don't trust meat buyers
They cancelled some of todays kill also, 10 mins before lorry due here! To much beef in store with no home for it was the reason given.St Merryn, Bodmin kill cancelled tomorrow. No reason given as yet.

it is dear but not because of the farmer, most of the time there is no need for lamb to be any more expensive on average per KG than beef if you go by the price the farmer gets, its a bit different at the moment cos lamb is up and beef is right down
First sentence is a bit rich coming from you but it is true we will leave it there, I know there is a big picture out there And it’s a right old mess no easy answer.

I do understand auctioneers have put themselves out over all this and appreciate all they are doing , left to deadweight we would be screwed over for sure .
I cannot understand why say 2/3 regular lamb sellers cannot stay in the market each week to see everyone else's prime lambs/ cattle sold.
At least with store stock sales there are farmer buyers there as well as the dealers.
What’s that then??You having a laugh.
Treat everyone the same is the fairest policy.
yep they do want to remember who is paying themWhat’s that then??
Bar the ones out that are paying the commission??
I’ve thought that from the beginning.yep they do want to remember who is paying them
since we started with sucklers 22 years ago I have only missed seeing them sold 3 times that I can remember and those times another family member has seen them soldI have left sheep and cattle at auctions for years now but realistically relying on other sellers being there.
Totally different when no vendors there
are the hoggs similar to last week?Malton 1500 Hoggs averaged 188 ppk best to £140. 22 steers averaged £2.10 and 38 heifers averaged £2.18.
Cattle and sheep slightly up. Hoggs 2 pence better and 1000 more than last weekare the hoggs similar to last week?
got plenty of similar horned lambs to go soon, hopefully they will stay a similar priceGambled and took a few hoggs today and am pleasantly surprised, well fed Cheviots at £2.25 kg for 41kg and £2.15 a kilo for horned lambs at 35kg which were bought for £22 a head in October. Still got a fair few left so let’s hope it continues to improve
