It's off the scale I'm still buying but just the odds and ends, its not the sort of trade I can go and fill the trailer up for. Swings and roundabouts, they were cheap ish at Xmas. Il admit to buying a 3 month old simmy out of a monty for £450 farm to farm but he's a bloody monster

Evans Bros. report: There was a certain buzz in the air today as it marked the first sale in weeks that the vendors were able to be present and the start of the fortnightly calf sales.

A significant increased entry in the cull section saw a top of £90 for Ewes from D T Thomas, Blaencwmdu and J I Lloyd, Cletwr and £134 for a Ram from Messrs Howells, Gwarallt.

In the fat lamb section, slightly down in number from last week, but trade was promising and better than expected with more than one lot reaching the top of 2.25pkg with the overall market average up on previous week.

Calves (85)

A spectacular start to the Calf Sales with a good number of 85 head forward. Pre-sale enquiries and those wishing to purchase were incredibly high and boded well for the sale. A beauty of a Charolais Heifer took top of the day at £500 with a smart looking British Blue Bull making up to £408. Quality entries were seen throughout and the bids flowed freely.

Steady on chap!

Sedge had a flyer of a spring lamb trade today, SQQ 218.14ppk (UP 19.8ppk on the week )

Exeter had a much poorer trade for spring lambs, back a good £5 head on sedge today, Exeter SQQ was 206.3ppk ( up ONLY 6.6ppk on the week ) and not only that but Exeter had 25% less lambs in this week compared to 20% less lambs at Sedge..
