Oh @Shebb90 ref Sedge.

Week on Week for last sat V last year sedge had about 47% more store cattle penned up this week compared to 12 months ago and prices on average were £95 head more than 12 months ago but I think the in-spec cattle are more than this and the out of spec cattle less than this £ head compared to 12 months ago!

What we did see at Sedge on Sat was a lot of 4/5 month old dairy bred stirks which I reckon many were held back by dairy farmers after lockdown started after the amount of milk they could send was cut back!

I think there will be a lot less cattle about come autumn in the store rings. Think people are selling now when price is good, but if finished price holds up and no new lockdown type thing, is possible they will rise more?

There will certainly be more stirks about come the autumn months for sure!

Store cattle wise on numbers it is hard to say either way, grass fed cattle are doing like hell this year that is for sure, that is partly due to the young fresh grass and partly because cattle were turned out early at the end of March/ start of April and cattle that are turned out early will always do a lot better than cattle turned out late in May/June etc.

On the lockdown, the Gov may try another lockdown even if its just say pubs but looking at SM/ talking to people they are rapidly having enough of this BS, especially when the hospitals etc are all but empty of virus patients so if the Gov try's another lockdown it may well backfire rapidly on them and be unenforceable! interestingly nightclubs are still banned from opening but some have now decided enough is enough and are going to re-open regardless ...

Everybody is supplementary feeding around here, not a strand of grass. Hopefully higher store trade will go towards extra feed now rather than be the bonus we were hoping for

Variations as per normal, more grass in the Devon hills than at any other time this year.
Only animals have any supplementary feeding is dry cows as grazing way too lush atm.

Cattle have grown like mad the last 6-8 weeks.
