Lambs were always going to drop back when they shot up so quick. 70p increase in 1 week was unreal.
Which week did they go up 70 pence and what figure were they at when they jumped 70 pence??

yes agree , but its the whole supply chain conspiring, plenty of farmers have been selling at a loss over the decades , simply not on, considering animal welfare red tractor etc . Im well aware primary producers get hammered globally coffee / chocolate etc , but going forward APB and the rest need a wake up .You don't honestly think processors are making 30-40% margins do you? They will be getting squeezed by their customers constantly, and running on very tight margins, which is why they need massive throughput to keep running.
Think we're up about £300 on a beat compared to this time last yearSeriously what is driving store cattle prices. Fat is better yes but with straw and feed expensive margins have to be questionable?

What’s wrong with Rare Breeds, if they are finished properly they are just as good as anything else if not better evenLive weight has buggered the dead by people selling rubbish rare breeds and poor half fleshed lambs.

Cant get sufficient weight to make them pay
I consistently kill my Teeswater and Wensleydale lambs at 20-23kg and there a rare breedCant get sufficient weight to make them pay
Bet them store lambs you bought will do a bit more than 0.3% ,you’ll maybe get them into £140 in AprilSimilar margin to farming then...plenty of farmers going pop as well
1Good luck with that
Really, I would say it's very rare to hear of a farmer going bust. In the last 40 years can only think of two in this area. Plenty have a "change of policy" or scale back and diversify but very few actually go bankrupt leaving debts.Similar margin to farming then...plenty of farmers going pop as well
It was tongue in cheek...plenty pack in but yes not go bustReally, I would say it's very rare to hear of a farmer going bust. In the last 40 years can only think of two in this area. Plenty have a "change of policy" or scale back and diversify but very few actually go bankrupt leaving debts.

Because people don’t want to keep 2 animals to sell oneSeriously what is driving store cattle prices. Fat is better yes but with straw and feed expensive margins have to be questionable?
