Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Have the abortions stopped now? Or just forgotten now they're going, as usual?
Nothing aborted since Thursday and all tests came back clear so just one of them things... I don’t think anything really happened too stress them other than the weather was pretty rough... but had 3 live sets of twins now so hopefully that’s the end of it
Not unusual for lambing to get off to a bad start, then pick up quickly.

No exactly. Maybe that number is what it can be up to if ewes lean and slip lambs rather than disease
Vet gave me a sheet yesterday which he wants me too try and keep filling out which will record all my farm mortality and it has boxes in it which show what % is classed as “acceptable” at different stages of the year...

Not sure I want too depress myself looking at those kinds of figures though [emoji86][emoji23]

View attachment 936701 this is the % my vets are working too anyways...
Love it when people aspire highly, pretty sure I would fail on all targets🙁wouldn’t be far away from birth to seven days and from 7 days to weaning but one freak weather event will screw that easily.

I believe that twinning % and barren ewe% are the two most important bits to high live lamb percentages per ewe mated, keep one high and the other low and jobs normally ok
Cattle 385/390ppk yesterday for us

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (January, 26th) sold 553 prime sheep.
Old season lambs (532) averaged 258.2p (+7.9p) and sold to 300.0p per kg for a 30kg Suffolk cross from Dunain Mains, Inverness and £121 gross twice for a pen of 50kg Suffolk crosses from Muirton Mains, Urray selling to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall and for a pair of 55.5kg Texel crosses from Meikle Geddes Farm, Nairn..
SQQ 36.5kg to 45.5kg (410) averaged 261.6p (+6.1p) per kg

My own were £112 for 44kg, which I'm quite happy with. First time I've been over £110 for a prime lamb, I think.
