Sheep job is an interesting one. How many sheep were actually killed in those aus bushfires. It certainly seems to be helping our trade. I think the real judgement day will be this time next year as numbers are obviously short with people off loading pre Christmas. Dunbia seemed desperate for Hoggs last week. And they hardly ever ask.
I think it will be a long time before we see the highs of this spring again , anyone wanting to get out , this is the year , along with forward payments of BPS (golden handshake ) should make easy decision

the worry i have is that once china has rebuilt it's pig herd it won't import as much aus/kiwi lamb....price falls and ends up here.......that said i don't know why pig price is low :scratchhead:

The pictures of those poor sheep in those Aus bushfires were heart breaking.

Millions were killed, like when F+M hit the Uk in 2001 and took out millions of breeding cattle/sheep/ pigs it then took many upto 10 years to get back to their pre cull stocking numbers!

I think it's issues with export markets and Covid staffing issues at meat plants. Plus a bit of light shafting by their vertically integrated paymasters, doubtless...

going to have to get used to it , world prices I'm afraid , with BPS going , will have to be recent prices all the time , now the EU sub tit has gone , any future elms payments is for the farmer , not subbing big PLC supermarket chains
I don’t swallow this. Certain people were quoting ‘world prices’ a few years ago when lambs were 160p the same folk are quiet now

my point was that world prices control the market ,( more so that we are not in the club anymore ) not necessarily staying high , Buyers and consumers have to get used to prices high or low according to availability, We may tap into new emerging markets with huge muslim populations that we didnt have access to before .

Well I did think that before we left but now it’s emerging that the lack of competition we had in the eu was actually stagnating prices not keeping them high
