Hexham has a lot of dispersals part dispersal s , unreal how many are jacking sucklers in Northumberland .
Take away the BPS,or diminish it on some of these tenanted farms and the suckler job does not stack up.Add to that an ageing farmer with sons or daughters not interested in carrying on.The TB tests(even 4 year ones) with Limousin x cows, and also the calf tagging rules with Lim x calving out on the hill. Its easy to see why some are giving up sucklers.

Aye this job is buggerd , things trading at record highs but profits still pee poor in regard to investment etc bloody shame we have served the public well keeping them in good beef for long time but I see the end of the road now .
Full of optimism this morning [emoji23] .we might go the other way and cut back the sheep, keep a few more cows.

Will people just put land into schemes. Surely they all won’t want more sheep.
I don’t know but as said above they all getting older done all their life and probably feel not enough to show for it , the younger generation don’t want to be tied to either end of a cow 365 days year who can blame them then TB is creeping north .
