I’d rather buy straight from the market than one of the rearing groups. I’ve been down that route and it cost me a lot of money in the end.
Why is that, paying more for poorer quality? We used to by from southwest rearers in batches of 50. Good thing until TB got hold but you used to get a few more plainer sorts towards the end.

Cattle weren’t what they were sold as. Supposed fully weaned, vaccinated and ready too go. They made that much noise the first night I ended up getting up and giving them milk at midnight, I’ve never used so much drug on a batch of cattle for pneumonia. I tried a second batch as they did me a discount due too the issues I had and they were almost as bad. Plus the cattle that were delivered weren’t the cattle I’d been too look at, 5 had been swapped. Pretty obvious they had used mine too make another order up and then stuck some lower quality ones in. Took me ages too get the disease they brought with them out of the calf sheds. So decided that was it, I’ll buy them myself like we used too and go from there. I know I could try a different firm but once bitten twice shy

Looks sunny ☀ pissing down foggy freezing , everyone got it’s back up this morning . Urgh
Are you earlier than usual?
Yeah boiling here, waterproofs and jumper off, only overalls 👍🏼

Not really earlier than normal, usually 30 odd that go from the ram breeding flock but the February lambing 8 year olds are what the first 100 or so have been 👍🏼
