You’d be better off selling store as well no doubt .I sold some stores which I thought were a good trade. Half of them were killed straight away

You may as well of cut the middle man out yourself...I sold some stores which I thought were a good trade. Half of them were killed straight away
Just because they did it doesn’t mean it paid. Lots of people have tried it and done no good, cattle fed to be sold as stores don’t die the same. Even meat men only usually do it if they’re desperate. It would pay to weigh forward stores and work out a reserve from itYou may as well of cut the middle man out yourself...
I know it didn’t. I always think the most profitable time to sell stores is straight off their mam...they never look any dearerJust because they did it doesn’t mean it paid. If you breed them no doubt you are right. I think they will get dearer every sucker sale season as numbers reduce to fight over. Add the ever rising costs of wintering them for hill farmers I can’t see why any wouldn’t just wean and ship them straight out in October/MarchI know it didn’t. The difference between £700 and £1200 that’s whyIf you breed them no doubt you are right. I think they will get dearer every sucker sale season as numbers reduce to fight over. I was doing the whole lot but found selling stores easier that selling finished cattleYou may as well of cut the middle man out yourself...
That’s where I was a few years agoI would rather send finished cattle to Hfd as stores than take them to Ludlow as finished cattle !
Tin hat on !

No offence intended, I meant you had done right. I have bought some hard store heifers myself to polish up and move on as stores, fed them more cheaply on oats and good silage, they have fed like morks, av. 1.7kg/day and some look fit to kill after 90 days but I doubt they would kill like if they had been on ad-lib barley. I keep looking and think I should kill them but there always seems to be a farmer round the ring who feels he can make a better job than me so I might let him get on with itWho said I fed them as stores?
I can guarantee the person that bought them is a very good judge of what cattle are
I’m with you on that one, scales seem to work different to the normI would rather send finished cattle to Hfd as stores than take them to Ludlow as finished cattle !

And plenty of fat buyers around the store ring in HerefordI’m with you on that one, scales seem to work different to the norm
Stores up here are a bit of a competitive jobNo offence intended, I meant you had done right.
