Who bought it? was it a local butcher or the butcher not to far away from here who seems to be buying a lot of very expensive prize winners from all over the British Isles.
Bought by the judge Philip parkin on behalf of kitsons of Stockton on Tees? Same Kitson bought the champion at English winter fair did he not? Another £7k.

A cynic might wonder how many kilos of meat would be sold from the high priced ‘Champion’ carcasses. Would they kill out at near 500% do you think?🤐
5,000,000% 🤷🏻‍♂️

High end restaurant opened up around here a few years ago by a known local con artist. He bought 5 welsh black cows in calf and before they’d calved he had welsh black meat on the menu 🤦🏻‍♂️

Must have wanted to do the clean sweep, isn't that him listed as buying of the champion at the RUAS show.

Don't know who bought it, but as @Woolless says, it could have ' gone on' to be shown again or, if it's a big buyer, look at it this way.........

.....he buys a hundred a week, so his 'other cattle' are.........
100 beast at 700kg @£3/kg................................£210,000
add 1 show beast at 700kg @ £10.20/kg.........£7,140

Total cost = £210,000+ £7140 = £217,140
Average cost per head = £2149.90
Average cost per kg = £3.07

So, he paid big money for the winner but his average isn't affected very much at all.
So bragging rights...

Tradition for the meat men to give abit back at xmas by buying the champions at big money. Judge is usually expected to buy it and he gets rolled on abit too. Good bit of advertising when all the local papers do an article on the local butcher buying the champion. Champion at ludlow today was 660kg and made £4 kg
did woolys have it ? what do they do with all of them?

We’re they both heifers what he bought , they said the winter fair heifer was going for breeding, at lot of these butchers are selling these champions a lot of times
You wouldnt think a fatstock champion hfr would have the ideal maternal traits for breeding but i suppose its all about embryos and side door calvings to create champion fatstock in the modern era !

It's amazing how the local butcher "manages" to keep enough champion meat to sell into the new year! There's rumers that he's related to a fomous Cooperfield. 😂
