They'll fly on that diet, you'll have them fit to kill by April!! (y)
He needs to house them now and not at the end of Dec, all they will do in the next few weeks outdoors is stand still/ go backwards.

Fine leaving them out all winter if you are turning onto grass early and will get very high growth rates quickly come April but leaving them out for another month then housing them onto a good ration does not make any sense!

Housing full of dry cows, emptying quickly and grass needs chopping off.

Ran out of food? Seems odd to sell so close to the end
Plenty of store lambs about that are 38/40 kilos being sold both this and previous years.

Whole host of reasons why people sell them at those weights.

And at £107 for 39 kilos for most lambs the store lamb seller has had most of the profit unless a sheep gambler has bought them and will run them on grass alone to very heavy weights!

I can understand if people just sell everything 32kg+ every 4-6 weeks so some that were 32 could be 40kg 6 weeks after etc but I was merely asking.

Some friends of mine bought 400 stores privately last year for £55/head in July, they killed 80 of them that same week 😮

I've not sold any lambs since the end of October, any idea how stores are doing?

Not interested in the sale report/top prices... 32-35kg average looking lambs
Texels would be £85-£105 depending what they looked like.I had a few Suff x today at £100,and Tex at £96. I dont think trade is as strong at Longtown at the moment as they would have you believe. They could do with a few more farmer buyers.
