Super SheepOk. Prediction time. Lleyn ewe lambs coming in for shearing tomorrow. High index sires, very good dams. Weights topping out at 65kg plus
What they worth?
Don’t get too excited...... bought a load 34.5N provisionally this week , unpriced but believed to be mid to high 600’s on the understanding I may not even get it if the company sells more than its allocation. I do agree we need moreWell the only good news i have had in the last week is that Fert prices have dropped a shade from their recent highs and you can now buy 33% N or 27+9s for about £685 ton!
I hope you have joined the new union ! It needs you.Well the only good news i have had in the last week is that Fert prices have dropped a shade from their recent highs and you can now buy 33% N or 27+9s for about £685 ton!

The company who quoted me have hundreds of tonnes already in store unsold at higher prices so now trying to move it as they have more raw materials coming in for the next batch!Don’t get too excited...... bought a load provisionally this week , unpriced but believed to be mid to high 600’s on the understanding I may not even get it if the company sells more than its allocation. Yep should have all been sold before ChristmasI wonder if there are too many hoggs about spoiling the spring lamb job.
We could do with lambs getting off to a good start
I would like to see some data about the sheep flock halving, trying to find some i came across a farmers weekly story in 2018 that said sheep numbers were at there highest since 2000. The 30 million number quoted would of been total sheep too and not breeding flock i think.Someone quoted that figure of the National breeding flock halved since foot and mouth . That’s a stark figure yet prices haven’t moved upwards that much. Where the hell did all that lamb used to end up. Export I expect
You have drawn him out well doneYou’re alive!!??
One ewe in gods country (SW England) will produce as much as 3 maybe even 4 proper hard scotch hill ewes ......,number of breeding ewes is largely irrelevant compared to total Kg of lamb producedI would like to see some data about the sheep flock halving, trying to find some i came across a farmers weekly story in 2018 that said sheep numbers were at there highest since 2000. Depends if they end up sold as nsl or osl.One ewe in gods country (SW England) will produce as much as 3 maybe even 4 proper hard scotch hill ewes ......,number of breeding ewes is largely irrelevant compared to total Kg of lamb produced
On here the “ British farming union” costs a tenner to join but worth ago for a few quid to try and force some positive change for once , i think anyway .What new union??
And if there is such a thing as a new union it needs young go getters like you Hilly @bobk @Northeastfarmer etc shaping things!

All weighed and marked on the weekend only picked the smarter hoggs at handy weight (getting harder with the remaining few) anything bigger and not that smart goes deadHow do you keep the weight of your Hogs at that level at this time of year...the price is brilliant just love to know
Today’s the day we agree Guthrie…We wont restart that argument on my return
But £135 for a 45 kilo lamb in real terms would have only been £105 at most 12 months ago! and no one would have been happy with £105 12 months ago in May that is for sure!
£100 head has been suggested for spring lambs in the summer this year so in real terms that would have only been £70 head 12 months ago for spring lambs and where would that put stores last year? £40/50 head for the short keep lambs 12 months ago?.. would not be feasible in either the short or long term are those prices for the store lamb or prime seller so why is this year an exception? !
Buyers filled their boots before coming up to Sedge?I would love to know what happened at Sedge today because they should never be over 20ppk less than Exeter on the same day!
( especially given they only had 961 lambs at sedge for the SQQ and Exeter had 2400 and over 2600 head of spring lambs including the heavy's! )
I thought the stirk trade was not great on Sat at Sedge but their spring lamb trade today is just shocking.
You were voted in as President in your absence. What new union??
