Will be so few suckled calves about they will be a much better trade than most people expect them to be.

Calve's are selling strongly at the moment all things considered but any bought from now onwards will need hard feed for nearly 12 months before they can be turned out next spring so you would think reality over feed prices would be setting in now but that does not seem to be the case at the moment!
I agree its potty what people are paying in calf ring ,i went to buy a trailer load last week walked away with 3 . Smallish Hereford calves which i would have picked up for £120/£135 making nearer £200 , people need to do some maths and bid according, have they not seen powder and nut price,

A couple of things .
1 .The EUs top wheat producer(France) is suffering from a major drought.(Only starting to be reported last few days).
2.Russia wants Ukraine to do the dirty work of demining the area while
simultaneously saying the ports are not under Ukranian control mmm.

What are the views on hoggs only getting to a decent price this late in the season. Looks like the earlier lambers will score again from now on in. Are we moving to a time when summer trade is better than early spring. Seems a reverse of how it used to be when summer trade was steady at best

Both beef and sheep feeds apparently.

Not impressed and there will be a phone call to the rep and he will not like what i have to say!

I cannot see any reason to jump it again by so much after the recent massive increase given that grain prices have not moved at all since the last rise.

Those boys on the grain thread would have had a meltdown weeks ago if they were now selling grain below the prices they made 12 months ago like what has been/is the case with the sheep job!
Yes but its not his fault...after all he only the Rep

Not if it's pouring with rain they dont. 🤷‍♂️
Been told pheasants are short this year (something to do with lack of available eggs)
so they might be worth a lot of money.
When shootings cancelled and they are catching them to eat i will know theres a real food crisis looming. Years ago shoots caught hens to lay the eggs but thats when we had proper keepers!

My mate says shooting ruined now big shoots having bags of 600 a day then digging holes to bury them....you cant beat the small farmers shoot put down 1500/2000 birds and do it properly ...and value your treasure
