Yes. Shan's were in Melton after lambs not been seen for years. Someone said they can't buy lambs to save for the festival like ewes so have to buy them when they want them, they reckoned a lot of export would be on this week as wellIs the fat trade being driven on with the festival coming soon? The lamb trade could drop after that But what do I know
My guess would be the buyers who held off in the spring for the fear of expensive feed next winter have now got a bit of carry over not sold or the realisation that the winter ahead may not be quite so expensive as fearedWhy have the young stores (cattle) suddenly got expensive ?
I met up with @Anymulewilldo in Longtown last year, I bet he’s glad now I went under my own steam.......I really wish I hadn't read that post !!!.....and there's all day to go yet
There was a couple of fellas went up to longtown as friends in a wagon got on arguing over sheep in the mart I bet that was a quiet ride homeI met up with @Anymulewilldo in Longtown last year, I bet he’s glad now I went under my own steam
Sing along :- I know a song that will ….
I was told by a dealer on Monday that these lambs would be back to 2.40pkg in no time.Is the fat trade being driven on with the festival coming soon? The lamb trade could drop after that But what do I know
Something I’ve learnt over the years is that if a dealer tells you £2.40 it is more than likely to be £4.40!!I was told by a dealer on Monday that these lambs would be back to 2.40pkg in no time.
He did also say ewes would maintain the trade they are now.Something I’ve learnt over the years is that if a dealer tells you £2.40 it is more than likely to be £4.40!!
Beggars believe when the fat job is absolutely on its arse at the min! No one selling steak meat well at all and people finishing can not take any less for stuff ! But then my dad always says never buy much with a j in the monthWhy have the young stores (cattle) suddenly got expensive ?

Not sure if it’s a good idea to mention it or notYes !! Probably have a pint with the ond tonight!
I’d like to think folk have enough sense to just draw those 32kg plus lambs. It shouldn’t be difficult if you’re just starting drawing now from an early April flock?Looks a big lot of stores at Bentham next week, surly its to early for them, people are only just getting hay off now and some space for them to go onto. I would think big lambs will be a good trade but the small under 28kg would be a struggle this early on.
I got the first 100 big feeding lambs (38kg-42kg) going on 4th august and then proper store lambs (32-35kg) end of august when hopefully men with have plenty of aftermath and sold there own singles for good money, I will be looking to buy some small (-25kg) bad bred lambs august to run round until may.
Randy?! Not the word I’d use!! Grubby more like!Fell asleep in the chair last night and just got caught up, christ you lot are a Randy bunch
Up in Cumbria Skelton show was cancelled on Saturday, waterlogged field. Was down in mid Cheshire this morning, went past one big dairy farm I have in the winter, they got a bumper first cut but the farm is pretty much brown now!
It’s steady light rain here this morning. Bloody glad of it to tell the truth. My mowing ground has thickened up no end this last fortnight since the rain startedUp in Cumbria Skelton show was cancelled on Saturday, waterlogged field.
