C&D Auction Marts held their weekly Primestock sale in Dumfries.

Prime cattle met spirited bidding to 290p/kg for a limousin heifer from W. Boyd, 8 Terregles Cottages to Johnstone and Son, Butchers, Annan. Bullocks from the same home to 280p/kg.

OTM's – were forward in numbers far short of customers demands, with trade again being exceptional.

Quality of the lambs there compared to most places is totally different though. When 1/3 of your entry is top end Vivers type lambs you expect the average to be miles in front of the averages
I don't think Vivers are paying the premium at the moment. From my quick look on the livestream he wasn't going above about £130 for the best lambs. Apparently Paul had been at Darlo last week looking for lambs and had left saying they were to dear

There was loads of smart texel lambs in melton at around £100 yesterday and I was up to £128 for Tex x mule lambs . yes mine were bigger but wouldn’t have cost any more to produce and I would be selling 2 lambs off a mule and guessing nearer 1.5 off a ewe that will produce a smart lamb so I don’t think quality does always pay really.

I got some really smart lambs lambs but they just done weigh. My Suffolk crosses easy get to 50kg for no more money.
