I had a lass shearing said they were to fat and i need to keep more to keep em slimmer , im taken her advice and pushing numbers up at tad until i find a level , but to be fair the romneys are good at keeping good ..
Can't keep them clean here. Not had full romneys (apart from rams) but up to 3/4 bred. They, and their lambs, always the dirtiest sheep here.
Just too lush for them? Though not this year! Have moved to more NZ Texel blood in them, and Easydam.

Edit: shame, nice sheep though.

Id not be sure the dirt will be the breed , infind mineral or lack of makes em shitty , some breeds react different, i have kept powder cattle mineral infront of these all summer and they cleanest ever …. Think the dry helps as well mind ..

Trade wasn't great. It was taking 42kgs just to get £100!

My 40-44kg were the weights at home 🙄 in the ring 42kg and 38.5kg. £100.50 and £89... the lighter ones would only have made that store at Longtown yesterday according to Neil - so I've only lost out the extra mlc costs. They were fit as, so I am a bit disappointed

Needed to shift this group, as the foggage fields are struggling with too many heads. Plan is now to worm and vit drench all the lambs and let them run a few weeks to put on weight, and chip away at the cull ewes.

Had to leave before the ewes were sold so I'm still waiting to hear how they faired but aye I'm not in the report!
Lambs just never weigh at Dumfries hence dont send fats there anymore. Must take a brute of a lamb to get into the heavyweights there 😂
