Cleaned up the last of our hoggs yesterday (well except for 6 or 7 'lamed, maimed and out and out bad doers' now in a shed getting a bit of 'intensive' treatment).
42kg £84 (200p/kg).......three parts Tex
43kg £85 (197.6p/kg)
43kg £72 (167.4p/kg)......Tex x mule
44kg £71 (161.4p/kg)
38kg £63 (165.8p/kg)
Decent trade for the good skinned ones, the Tex x mules dragged the average down but have to happy for the tail-enders in a year like this.

Don't forget mind that the really big fhinshers ( sending 2/3 artics every week ) are on 20/30pk more than everyone else, soon mounts up on a 400 kilo beast!
So what's your reasoning?
They're paying more fore a guaranteed regular number?
Thought the processors worked on really tight margins. If they can pay the big man 30p a kilo more than the little man then most of us 'old boys' are being well and truly shafted.

Took an old ram into s molten today, and stopped to watch the ewes and a few Hoggs sold before returning to the lambing shed, Ewes looked a lot dearer than when I last watched them sold, also Hoggs seemed a bit better than the doom and gloom I've been hearing.. Hope the spring lamb price is good in a few months time!
