Must be short. Our local abbatoir paying up to 420kg again. Was down to 400 for a few months. Didn't think they'd do it because it puts there pack size argument out the window.

Some lads talking it up to £4/kg again!

Going to put another load of stores next week.

Admire there optimism.
I've always said the weight limit will go back up before it goes down! Roll on 450 kilos

Is it optimism, or is it a way of explaining why they are paying to much for store cattle. £4/kg for cattle does the beef job no favours, as consumers will just buy a chicken instead. As I see it the dead weight price has stayed reasonably level for the past 8 months. Store cattle prices have risen and risen over the same period. WHY? How does someone buying cattle this week know what the price is going to be in 3-6 months time, when every week on here we are all asking whats the beef price next week.
Lambs are around £4 kg and there is no home trade for it, everyone is reliant on export. There is not the export trade for beef in the same way.

I went to Rugby today to buy some shop type heifers and for the goods there they were a very good trade. R4L types , if they killed at 60%, would be 3.82 stood in the market
