Better get rid of as many lambs as possible in the next couple of weeks cause I'll start sending them then and that is usually the start of the price crash

Anyone tempted to sell lambs lighter than normal yet? Say 32kg instead of 40's? Me, I've got balls of steel:whistle:, so I Cliked all my March lambs the other day.

I took 5 hoggets yesterday. 2 that had nemo bad last year and got stunted badly, finally made it to 42kg and made £85. Up to a (very poor shaped but spent most of the winter cast) Beltex x Charollais ram that was 62kg and £118.50. A one eyed ram (crow had his eye out when cast:mad:) bred the same way but had put his teeth up, made £108.

This time last year the price was in the 70s..

No two years are ever the same but this year lamb is very short in NZ currently....
The last time something like this happened was 2011,but started earlier in april. You can bet your life they wont let it happen next year,as in April/May 2012,the price was very ordinary. They will bring boat loads of New Zealand in.

Sheep numbers in NZ are falling alongside the fact they are now exporting more to places nearer home, UK supermarkets have been struggling to fill boats destined for the UK for the last three months, cant see any reason why that will change given the above.

I hope so,and hope you are correct. The trouble is,how many store lamb buyers are going to hang onto their hoggs until May next year in the belief that this will happen again?
